Promoting Physics Experiments Project (2017Present)

Last year UPAA-NL funded the purchase of brand new equipment for the physics laboratory of UP Los Banos Rural High School. Before this the school did not have its own laboratory. UPAA-NL’s donation in 2017 provided the much needed basic equipment for a fully functional high school physics laboratory. Since last year the students have been using the equipment. For 2018, UPAA-NL commits itself to funding Phase II of the project, the goal of which is to set up a hands-on, interactive and mobile Physics exhibit for students and the general public.

Donate A Book to UP Tacloban (2014 – 2016)

To help UP Tacloban in rebuilding its library, UPAA-NL organised a book donation drive. Books were collected from various sources in the Netherlands. A total of 1,405 books were sent. UPV Tacloban estimated the value of the books it received to be PHP 1.3 million or approximately €25,000.

Support for students affected by Typhoon Haiyan (2013)

In November 2013, typhoon Haiyan (local name Yolanda) drastically affected the lives of the many students enrolled in the different campuses of UP Visayas. UPAA-NL decided without hesitation to assist the students. Through contacts in UP Diliman, UPAA-NL donated funds to address the immediate and basic needs of these students (cross-registrants in UP Diliman). The UPAA-NL donations were given to the “One Stop Shop” (€750) and to the “Meals” of the UP students affected by typhoon Haiyan (€190).

Digitisation of the UP Main Library (2007 – 2012)

The UPAA-NL raised € 20,000.00 for four server units and the structured cabling of the Main Library building to upgrade and enhance the capability of the University of the Philippines Library Systems in providing students, faculty members, staff of all university constituents and outside researchers the best possible access to information they need in support of instruction, research and extension. Through the efforts of the UPAA-NL members and the generous support of benefactors the first server has been installed in June 2008. In October 2010, the instalment of the permanent structured cabling was fulfilled. The UPAA-NL donated the R-2500 high density power frame in April 2012. This project has been acknowledged by the University Main Library. For more information, go to
